Job description

KS2 Graduate Teaching Assistant – Ideal Pre-PGCE Experience

Want real classroom experience before you train as a teacher? This is exactly where to start.

*** KS2 Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** £80 – £110 per day
*** September 2025 – July 2026
*** School Location: Ward of Northfield
*** Best experience for someone looking to train as a teacher

The Role
You’ll support pupils across Key Stage 2—typically Years 3 to 6—through a mix of 1:1 support, small group interventions, and in-class assistance. You’ll help children grasp core skills in maths, reading, and writing, and play a key role in boosting their progress and confidence. Day-to-day, you’ll assist with behaviour management, resource prep, and reinforcing the teacher’s lesson objectives.

This role gives you exposure to classroom dynamics, curriculum delivery, and the strategies great teachers use every day.

The Candidate
You’re a graduate who’s serious about going into teaching—whether through a PGCE, Schools Direct, or a salaried route. You’ve got good literacy and numeracy, a calm presence, and a proactive mindset. Experience working with children is a bonus, but if you’re enthusiastic and eager to learn, full support will be given.

The School
This Northfield primary school is welcoming, inclusive, and focused on pupil progress. Staff work collaboratively and graduates are treated as key members of the team. It’s a school that regularly supports aspiring teachers and understands how to develop classroom talent.
