Job summary

Empowering Learning Ltd is seeking a KS2 Teacher for a Derby City school on a full-time, long-term supply contract to cover maternity leave from after October half term 2026 until July 2027. The role is for a Year 5/6 class in a two-form entry setting, with collaborative planning and strong curriculum delivery.

The ideal candidate will hold QTS and have recent KS2 experience (Year 5/6), excellent classroom management, and clear communication.

Qualifications

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Recent experience teaching within Key Stage 2, ideally Year 5/6
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Organised and proactive with ability to take full class responsibility
• Collaborative with parallel class teacher across a two-form entry year group
• Committed to high-quality teaching and pupil development

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons for Year 5/6
• Take full responsibility for teaching, progress and behaviour
• Assess pupil progress and provide feedback
• Mark work per school policy
• Collaborate with parallel teacher to maintain consistency across year group
• Create an inclusive learning environment and promote high expectations
• Attend meetings and contribute to the school community
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff
