Job Title: Key Stage 1 Teacher
Location: Watford, Hertfordshire
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £170 - £200 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term (with potential for permanent placement)

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and experienced Key Stage 1 (KS1) Teacher to join a well-regarded primary school in Watford for a September 2025 start. This is a full-time role ideal for a passionate educator who is committed to delivering engaging and high-quality teaching and learning to pupils in Year 1 or Year 2.

You will be joining a supportive school environment with strong leadership, a collaborative teaching team, and a firm focus on student development and well-being. This role is being offered on a long-term basis with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver creative and effective lessons in line with the KS1 National Curriculum

  • Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of pupils

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of pupils of varying abilities, including SEND and EAL learners

  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages learning and promotes positive behaviour

  • Collaborate with teaching assistants, specialist staff, and colleagues to support individual learning needs

  • Engage with parents and carers to discuss pupil progress and support learning at home

  • Participate in school meetings, INSET days, and training opportunities as required

  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities, themed days, and school events

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) essential

  • Proven experience teaching in a KS1 setting (Year 1 or Year 2) within the UK

  • Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and current teaching practices

  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a nurturing learning environment

  • A proactive, reflective, and adaptable teaching style

  • Ability to plan and deliver differentiated lessons to engage all learners

  • A genuine passion for teaching and commitment to raising pupil achievement

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Two professional references that can comment on recent teaching experience

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience with phonics programmes such as Read Write Inc. or Letters and Sounds

  • Familiarity with formative and summative assessment methods in KS1

  • Training or experience in safeguarding, SEND support, or EAL strategies

  • Experience working within a multicultural and diverse school community
