Job summary

Horizon School in the United Kingdom is seeking a KS1 Teacher to join our Lower school class with SEMH needs. You may teach across year 1–6 as required to suit school needs. Strong planning and relationship-building with students are essential.

The post emphasises engaging lessons, safeguarding, and contributing to the school community. An Enhanced DBS and two references will be required before appointment.

Qualifications

  • Qualified teacher with KS1 experience.
  • Experience with SEMH is preferred.
  • Ability to teach across years 1–6 and adapt planning to needs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging KS1 lessons across Year 1–6 as required by the school.
  • Monitor and assess student progress and adjust support accordingly.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and safeguarding in line with policies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to school improvement.
  • Attend mandatory DBS checks and provide two references if shortlisted.

Contract type: Full-time, permanent Reporting to: Headteacher

Main Purpose

KS1 Teacher

Class teacher for a class of 8 students with a Primary need of SEMH. All students at our Lower school have a 24 week placement.

The Professional duties of all teachers, (other than the Head Teacher) are set out in the STPC and describe the duties required of all main scale posts.

To suit the needs of the school the postholder would be expected to teach any children from year 1 to year 6, so the class taught by the postholder could change.

Accountabilities

A To implement and deliver the Horizon School curriculum, which engages and ensures all students are able to make progress in line with expectations in all subjects.

B To monitor, assess and respond to individual student progress and attainment.

C To maintain high expectations of behaviour and safety in line with the School’s policies, such as the Behaviour and Relationships Policy and Safeguarding Policy.

D To maintain professional standards which support the School’s vision both within the whole School and the wider community.

E Generic duties relevant to all teachers.

It is essential that the successful candidate is skilled at making positive relationships with students, has excellent classroom management skills and has a passion for teaching high quality lessons.
