Job summary

Teaching Personnel are recruiting a KS1 Teaching Assistant to lead phonics interventions in a Southport primary school. The role runs from November 2026 to May 2027, with a focus on early reading, blending and segmenting, and targeted small-group support.

The ideal candidate will have KS1 TA experience, strong phonics knowledge, and familiarity with programmes such as Read Write Inc., Letters and Sounds or Little Wandle. Long-term temporary contract via Teaching Personnel.

Qualifications

• Experience working as a KS1 Teaching Assistant.
• Strong knowledge of phonics and early reading.
• Experience delivering phonics interventions using programmes such as Read Write Inc., Letters and Sounds, Little Wandle.

Responsibilities

• Lead small-group phonics interventions and 1:1 support.
• Support KS1 pupils with reading, writing and early literacy.
• Track progress and feed back to class teacher.
• Create a positive, engaging learning environment.
• Support classroom learning as required.
