Practice Area/Department Financial Services and Markets PQE Level N/A Description
Department
We are financial services experts who apply a wide range of legal principles to resolve highly complex (and sometimes seemingly baffling) problems, while delivering clear, practical advice in a user-friendly way across a broad range of financial sectors - wholesale and retail, domestic and international.
Some of the areas we specialise in include: a broad range of domestic and pan-European regulatory and compliance issues, including the impact of the regulatory regime on venture capital and private equity businesses; securities trading, clearance and settlement matters; new payment products and services, including e-money and digital platforms; a wide range of Fintech issues, including tokenisation, the regulation of cryptoassets and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in financial services; investment management and global custody services; wholesale and retail financial product development; the structuring, establishment and promotion of investment fund vehicles; market conduct issues; regulatory capital requirements; and discipline and enforcement issues.
The Role
You will be expected to provide paralegal support and report in the first instance to the FSM knowledge team - the Head of Financial Markets Research, the Director of Research and the two senior Knowledge Counsel. Beyond that, and on an ad hoc basis, you may also be expected to provide paralegal support to other lawyers within the FSM department. Ultimately you will be responsible to the partners within the FSM department. You will proactively contribute to the department and, ultimately, the firm's success by actively seeking to anticipate the needs of the FSM knowledge team and fee earning lawyers in the FSM team, in addition to having a full understanding of and supporting the crucial administrative processes that help the team function to the best of its ability.
You will be expected to take responsibility for a varied workload and to communicate effectively. As well as working directly with the department's lawyers, you will be working closely with various non-legal colleagues to ensure a seamless and collaborative support function is available and adds value to the department.
