The paralegal position provides support to the IP Knowledge Counsel and, more broadly, to the members of the European Intellectual Property team

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting the IP Knowledge Counsel in monitoring developments of law and practice. A particular focus of the role will be on the developing law and practice of the new Unified Patents Court in Europe and tracking and helping to analyse and index the Court's decisions as they are released
• Conducting research, using internet and other research tools
• Managing specialist library and legal know-how materials
• Drafting blog posts on recent developments
• Anticipating developments and decisions in specific areas of interest for the group and updating the group on developments
• Assisting with client briefings
• Collecting, collating and storing precedents
• Creating and maintaining know-how files
• Distributing know-how materials to relevant members of the group
• Managing learning and development resources and attending IP education sessions

Qualifications, skills and experience:

• Undergraduate degree (ideally minimum 2.1 or equivalent);
• Understanding of intellectual property rights (basic but sufficient to identify the rights involved in a precedent document and the type of pleading or transactional document it is)
• Previous paralegal experience is preferred, especially in IP;
• IT abilities to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new IT skills and other database systems.
