The Private Wealth & Tax group works with a diverse range of institutions, companies and high net-worth individuals managing and protecting their assets in the most tax-efficient manner.

Many of the individuals we advise are international, with personal wealth and business interests in numerous jurisdictions and sectors. They include professional fiduciaries and private trustees, both in the UK and major international financial centres. They are often not resident in the UK, and many have never been resident or domiciled here. The tax issues they face are complex and varied. The focus for all clients remains the same: preservation of their wealth for their families and philanthropic endeavors.

Our clients want to comply with UK and international tax obligations while maximizing tax reliefs. They also want to preserve privacy, protect assets, realize value, and safeguard reputation and family values. We help navigate and balance these objectives, providing bespoke solutions.

Based in London, Hong Kong, and Singapore, with lawyers qualified in multiple countries and experienced advising across Europe, the Middle East, the US, and Asia, we support clients with tax issues related to formation, administration, taxation, and governance of structures, working closely with local and international advisers.

Duties and Responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity to join Mishcon's well-established and innovative Knowledge Lawyers (KLs) team, led by Knowledge Partner Kate Higgins. Our KLs are integral to delivering client service, developing knowledge assets, training lawyers, and enhancing our practice efficiency and profitability.

In this role, which is central to the success of the PWT practice group, the Private Department, and the Firm's offerings to individuals, family offices, and trustees internationally, you will:

• Shape and implement the practice group knowledge strategy in collaboration with KLs across departments.
• Coordinate and design internal and client legal training, including online solutions.
• Maintain and update precedents, know-how, and client guides, following the Firm's style, including automated document assembly.
• Monitor law and practice developments, providing updates to lawyers and clients.
• Use knowledge and technology to develop business opportunities, add value, and improve service delivery.
• Create content for communication strategies, including client alerts and articles for publications.
• Support business development initiatives with the BD team and fee-earners.
• Manage the Department's knowledge pages on the Firm's intranet and other repositories.
• Work with Risk & Compliance and Partners to implement best practices and risk management.
• Respond to technical law and practice queries from fee-earners.

Skills/Experience

• Ideally 10+ years PQE, either as a KL (PSL) or transitioning from fee-earning, demonstrating KL skills and knowledge contributions.
• Deep expertise in tax law and private client work.
• Proven enthusiasm and track record in business development and knowledge commercialization.
• Excellent writing and drafting skills.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and interpersonal skills.
• Good teamwork and ability to work independently and proactively.
• Aptitude for embracing new ways of working and legal technology.
• Resilient, calm under pressure, adaptable, and flexible.
• Operational knowledge of Microsoft programs.
