Job Title: Interim Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) Consultant - Central Government

Location: Hybrid (Central London & Remote)

Clearance: SC Clearance

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Interim Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) Consultant to support a Central Government department in reviewing, rationalising, and enhancing its KIM practices. This is a hybrid role requiring a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in Google Workspace, including Google Vault, and a deep understanding of government KIM standards and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a comprehensive review of current KIM practices, tools, and structures.
  • Identify inefficiencies and gaps in compliance with government KIM requirements.
  • Develop a roadmap for a more streamlined, secure, and user-friendly KIM environment.
  • Provide expert guidance on the use of Google Workspace tools for document and information management.
  • Ensure appropriate use and configuration of Google Vault for retention, eDiscovery, and compliance.
  • Engage with stakeholders across departments to embed best practices and promote cultural change.
  • Draft and implement updated KIM policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience delivering KIM solutions within UK Central Government or similar regulated environments.
  • Strong knowledge of government KIM standards, including records life cycle, FOI, and data protection (eg, GDPR).
  • Hands-on experience with Google Workspace, including Google Drive, Docs, Sites, and Vault.
  • Experience with KIM practices for Microsoft Cloud
  • Ability to assess and rationalise Legacy information structures and propose future-fit solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced, hybrid environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience leading KIM transformation or digital change programmes.
  • Familiarity with relevant information management standards.
  • Professional certification in KIM, Records Management, or Information Governance (eg, IRMS, CILIP).
