NHS Grampian invites applications for a Fixed-Term Post (3-6 months) for an experienced registered nurse to shape and deliver the Integrated Drug Service. The post combines advanced clinical practice with involvement in a service-based research project aimed at improving outcomes and reducing harm for people who use the service.
It offers leadership, workforce development and opportunities to translate research into clinical practice.
Following a successful research funding bid within the Integrated Drug Service, we are excited to offer a unique fixed-term opportunity for an experienced and motivated registered nurse to play a key role in shaping and delivering the service's strategic ambitions.
This role provides a rare opportunity to combine advanced clinical practice with meaningful involvement in a service-based research project focused on improving outcomes and reducing harm for people who use our service. The successful candidate will maintain a small, complex caseload while supporting the implementation, evaluation and translation of research findings into clinical practice. As such, the post offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to innovation, evidence-based care and service development within a dynamic and evolving specialty.
We are seeking a values-driven practitioner who demonstrates strong emotional intelligence, effective leadership skills and a commitment to collaborative working.
You will be passionate about improving patient outcomes, supporting staff wellbeing and development, and fostering a positive, reflective team culture that embraces continuous learning and improvement.
As a senior leadership role within the Integrated Drug Service, the post holder will provide operational management, professional leadership and support for workforce development, while contributing to the achievement of key strategic objectives across the service.
This position would particularly suit an experienced practitioner with a positive, solution-focused approach and a strong interest in quality improvement, service evaluation and research. Experience of leading change, implementing evidence-based practice, or participating in research and improvement projects would be highly advantageous.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence the future direction of the service, contribute to innovative approaches to harm reduction, and help bridge the gap between research and clinical practice to improve outcomes for some of our most vulnerable patient groups.
Interviews will take place on 04 November 2026
An attractive relocation allowance of up to £8,000 is available to successful candidates
