Job summary

Hastings Hotels is seeking a reliable Kitchen Steward to join our Everglades Hotel team in Hastings. Under the guidance of our Head Chef, you will help keep all kitchen areas and equipment clean and hygienic, supporting the smooth running of the kitchen.

Hours vary with shifts from 7am–3pm or 3pm–11pm; weekend hours may be later. Benefits include staff meals, employee discounts, and opportunities for career progression within Hastings Hotels.

Qualifications

• Right to Work in the United Kingdom
• Good command of English language
• Current food hygiene certificate (desired)
• Previous kitchen/cleaning experience welcomed but not essential

Responsibilities

• Wash dishes, pots and pans and operate the dishwasher
• Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas and surfaces
• Keep walls, fridges and floors clean and sanitized
• Ensure stock areas are secure and report breaches
• Work with colleagues to maintain a respectful, efficient team
• Follow health, safety and hygiene policies and procedures
• Take on additional duties as required by management

Under the leadership of our Inspiring Head Chef, Raymond Callaghan, you will have the opportunity to work with our friendly team, develop your skills and enjoy the variety offered by a role in hospitality.

The rate of pay ranges from £9.55- £12.75ph depending on age.

About the role

To ensure that all Kitchen areas and equipment are cleaned and presented to the Hastings Standard of Cleanliness and Hygiene.

• To keep all kitchen areas clean. Typical tasks include washing dishes, pots, pans, loading and unloading the dish washer, emptying, and cleaning bins.

• Maintaining the cleanliness of dishwashing areas including walls, fridges, and mopping floors.

• To ensure all equipment and materials are used in the correct manner and any problems are reported immediately.

• To always maintain the security of stock areas at all times, immediately reporting any breaches and dealing.

• To work effectively with colleagues to ensure a harmonious working environment where all employees are treated with respect and dignity.

• To comply with all health, safety and hygiene policies and procedures.

• Any other duties as required by management.

About You

We would love you to have some similar previous experience, but this is not essential as our Kitchen Team will provide you with full training.
