Job summary

JD Wetherspoon Plc is hiring for a kitchen team member at one of its UK pubs. You will prepare, cook and present food to the required spec, operate kitchen stations and work as part of a team to maintain time and quality targets.

The role emphasizes training, health and safety standards, and continuous improvement, with flexible shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends and late finishes. No prior experience is required, and training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present food to the required specification.

• Rotate stock and store food safely.
• Complete induction and ongoing refresher training.

Our pubs open early and close late, so we offer great flexibility with shift patterns, including mornings, evenings, weekends and late finishes.

Duties include:

• preparing, cooking and presenting food to the correct spec
• operating kitchen work stations, including grills, fryers, microwaves and more
• working as a team to keep to time and quality targets
• following food hygiene and allergen, as well as health and safety, standards
• cleaning as you go, including full kitchen clean-downs
• rotating stock and storing food safely
• completing required induction, role‑specific and ongoing refresher training and contributing to continuous improvement

Essential requirements

All of the training which we provide will teach you everything you need to know to succeed, but there are a few essential requirements you’ll need to start:

• Have a proof of right to work
• Have a bank account in your own name
• Be able to converse in English and to understand the language to complete training and other duties associated with your job role.
• Have a fixed place of residence within reasonable travelling distance of your place of work.
• Basic computer literacy

Most Wetherspoon team leaders and managers started in the kitchen or behind the bar.
