Job summary

JD Wetherspoon Plc in the United Kingdom is seeking candidates for kitchen roles within our pubs. You will prepare, cook and present food to the correct spec, and help keep the kitchen running smoothly while upholding high standards of cleanliness and safety.

We offer flexible shift patterns across mornings, evenings, weekends and late finishes, with on-the-job training and opportunities for progression. A competitive pay rate, staff meals, discounts and other benefits are provided.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Preparing, cooking and presenting food to the correct spec.
• Operating kitchen work stations, including grills, fryers, microwaves and more.
• Working as a team to keep to time and quality targets.
• Following food hygiene and allergen, as well as health and safety, standards.
• Cleaning as you go, including full kitchen clean-downs.
• Rotating stock and storing food safely.
• Completing required induction, role-specific and refresher training.

At a glance, your role is to work as part of a team to prepare and cook food and to help to keep the kitchen running smoothly, all while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety and customer service.

Our pubs open early and close late, so we offer great flexibility with shift patterns, including mornings, evenings, weekends and late finishes.

Essential requirements

All of the training which we provide will teach you everything you need to know to succeed, but there are a few essential requirements you’ll need to start:

• Have a proof of right to work
• Have a bank account in your own name
• Be able to converse in English and to understand the language to complete training and other duties associated with your job role.
• Have a fixed place of residence within reasonable travelling distance of your place of work.
• Basic computer literacy

Progression and development

Most Wetherspoon team leaders and managers started in the kitchen or behind the bar.
