Job summary

South Devon College is seeking a hands-on Kitchen Porter in Paignton to support our training kitchens and classrooms. You will help keep equipment clean, manage stock, and assist with deliveries and basic maintenance to ensure a safe, well-equipped environment for students.

The role is permanent, 37 hours per week across 40 weeks per year, with a pro rata salary of £24,618. Benefits include generous holiday allowance and opportunities for training and development within a supportive college

Qualifications

• Hands-on, reliable kitchen porter with attention to safety.
• Willingness to perform cleaning, washing pots, and basic maintenance.
• Ability to work as part of a busy team during service.
• Good organisational skills and time management.

Responsibilities

• Keep training kitchens, equipment, utensils and workspaces clean, hygienic and ready for action.
• Support with pot and plate washing during busy meal services.
• Prepare food orders and resources for practical sessions and ensure delivery to the right kitchen.
• Receive deliveries and maintain store organisation, including stock rotation.
• Assist with kitchen laundry and move hospitality equipment and furniture.
• Carry out regular deep cleaning and report maintenance needs.
