Job summary

LGH Hotels Management, with the Leyland Hotel (Signature Collection by Best Western) in Preston, is seeking a Kitchen Porter to join the kitchen team. You will help keep the kitchen running smoothly, supporting chefs with set up and food preparation while maintaining high hygiene standards.

You will work behind the scenes to ensure food quality, hygiene and service flow, contributing to a positive dining experience for guests.

Qualifications

• Ability to wash dishes, pots and kitchen equipment to high hygiene standards.
• Maintain clean, tidy and organised kitchen areas throughout shifts.
• Support chefs with basic preparation and set up.

Responsibilities

• Wash and clean dishes, pots, pans and kitchen equipment thoroughly and efficiently.
• Keep all kitchen areas clean, tidy and organised throughout the shift.
• Sweep and mop floors and manage waste and recycling responsibly.
• Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling and chopping vegetables.
• Receive, check and store deliveries of food and kitchen supplies correctly.
• Support kitchen set up and close down procedures.
• Clean cooking equipment and work surfaces to hygiene standards.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene and health & safety guidelines at all times.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to support smooth service.
• Report any maintenance, hygiene or health & safety concerns promptly.
• Is reliable, hardworking and takes pride in doing a job well.
• Enjoys practical, hands on work in a fast paced environment.
• Understands the importance of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation.
• Likes being part of a team and supporting others to succeed.
• Is willing to learn and help where needed.
• Takes responsibility and follows instructions carefully
