Kitchen Porter – House of Social, Manchester

Rate: £13

Hours Per Week:Full-time contract. 40 Hours

Working Patterns: Our Kitchen Porters work collaboratively throughout the working week Tuesday – Sunday. Shifts can start as early as 7am and finish as late as 2am

Days and hours will rotate weekly subject to demands and team availability.

House of Social Food Hall is Manchester’s newest and most exciting food hall. A collection of five independent kitchens, serving food and drink to suit every taste and time. We’re looking for an accomplished Supervisor to provide leadership support, steering the on-site team to deliver to our premium standards.

Located on two levels of Vita Group’s purpose builtstudent accommodation conceptHouse of Social, the new venuespans 12,000 square feetof brand new dining and drinking space.

Our Kitchen Porter’s

Support the kitchen teams by ensuring the kitchen is clean, organised, and well-maintained at all times. This role involves washing dishes, maintaining hygiene standards, and assisting with basic kitchen duties.

  • Wash and sanitise dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils both manually and with dishwashers.
  • Distribute clean plates and crockery back to the 5 kitchens
  • Keep all kitchen areas, including floors, walls, surfaces, and storage areas, clean and hygienic.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is clean and safely stored.
  • Replenish stock such as paper towels, cleaning supplies, and chemicals.
  • Report any equipment issues or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Ensure rubbish and food waste are properly disposed of, including recycling where applicable.
  • Follow all food hygiene, health and safety, and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.

Professional Experience

  • Experience in food & beverage, preferably in a high volume setting
  • Previous experience in a kitchen porter
  • Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety.
  • Our operations run seamlessly with the support of a variety of technology systems and software; our Kitchen Porter’s must be technologically astute.

  • Excellent communication skills. English will be the primary spoken language; however multi-lingual skills would be warmly welcomed.
