Job summary

Six by Nico is seeking a Kitchen Porter to join the Cardiff team. You will perform dishwashing, maintain cleanliness, assist with basic food prep, and support chefs during busy periods.

Responsibilities

• Dishwashing, drying and storage of dishes and kitchen equipment
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene, surfaces and floors
• Assist in proper disposal of waste and recyclables
• Clean and maintain kitchen appliances, utensils and tools
• Organize and rotate stock for availability
• Assist chefs with ingredient prep and fetching supplies
• Adhere to health and safety standards for chemicals and tools
• Support team during busy periods to ensure smooth operation
• Follow cleaning schedules and routines set by management
• Store and label food to prevent cross-contamination
• Keep storage areas tidy and inventory easy to locate
• Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries
• Comply with company policies including uniform standards
• Show willingness to learn and take on more responsibilities

We are currently seeking a Kitchen Porter, who is an enthusiastic and driven individual, to join the team at Six by Nico.

The ideal candidate would hold the following qualities:

• Be enthusiastic and have a good work ethic and have a flexible approach to working hours
• Carry out cleaning tasks quickly and effectively
• Assist in basic food preparation
• A can-do attitude, hands on approach and the ability to work well under direction
• Good organizational skills and the ability to multitask
• Assist in checking storage area for cleanliness
• Kitchen experience is preferred

As a Kitchen Porter at Six by Nico you will:

• Dishwashing and Sanitization: Ensure the prompt and efficient washing, drying, and storage of all dishes, cutlery, and kitchen equipment to maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
• Kitchen Cleanliness: Maintain the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen area, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing work surfaces and floors
• Waste Management: Assist in the proper disposal of food waste and recyclable materials, following the restaurant's sustainability guidelines.
• Equipment Maintenance: Support the kitchen team by cleaning and maintaining kitchen appliances, utensils, and equipment to prolong their lifespan and functionality
• Stock Management: Assist in organizing and rotating stock, ensuring ingredients and supplies are readily available to the kitchen staff.
• Assistance to Chefs: Provide support to the chefs and kitchen staff as needed, such as preparing ingredients, fetching supplies, and assisting with basic food preparation tasks.
• Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety standards, following proper procedures for handling and storing chemicals and kitchen tools.
• Team Support: Work collaboratively with the kitchen team, offering help during busy periods and ensuring a positive and efficient work environment.
• Cleaning Schedules: Follow the cleaning schedules and routines established by the kitchen management to maintain a consistent level of cleanliness throughout the day.
• Food Safety: Handle food products with care, ensuring they are appropriately stored and labeled to prevent cross-contamination and maintain freshness.
• Organization: Maintain a tidy and orderly storage area, helping to keep track of inventory and easily locate kitchen supplies when needed.
• Recycling Initiatives: Support the restaurant's efforts in recycling and waste reduction, ensuring that recyclable materials are separated correctly
• Delivery Management: Assist in receiving and organizing deliveries, checking for accuracy and proper storage of perishable items.
• Compliance with Policies: Follow all company policies and procedures, including uniform and grooming standards, to maintain a professional appearance
• Learning and Growth: Show a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities, potentially leading to growth within the kitchen team.
