Job summary

Louma Country Hotel is seeking a Kitchen Porter to support our culinary team and maintain the highest kitchen standards behind the scenes. You will help keep areas spotless, manage crockery, and assist with basic prep as part of a busy hospitality team.

The ideal candidate values cleanliness, reliability and teamwork, with a willingness to learn and adapt to demanding service periods, including weekends.

Qualifications

  • Experience in kitchen, hospitality or catering is desirable but not essential.
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Shows attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Reliable, punctual and organised in approach to work.
  • Can work independently and as part of a supportive team.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to assist colleagues as needed.
  • Understanding of food hygiene and health & safety practices is advantageous.
  • Availability to work weekends, early mornings, evenings and peak periods.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all kitchen areas are clean, organised and maintained to the highest standards.
  • Wash and store crockery, cutlery, glassware and utensils efficiently during service.
  • Keep food prep and storage areas clean and hygienic per regulations.
  • Assist with receipt, storage and organisation of deliveries and stock.
  • Dispose of waste and recycling safely, keeping areas tidy and compliant.
  • Support kitchen team with basic food prep tasks when required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of staff areas, floors, surfaces and equipment.
  • Follow all health, safety and food hygiene policies and procedures.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of kitchen operations before and after service.
  • Work collaboratively with chefs to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
  • undertake any other reasonable duties requested by Kitchen Leadership.

Role Overview

As a Kitchen Porter at Louma Country Hotel, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth and efficient operation of our kitchen. Working alongside our talented chefs and hospitality team, you will help maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation, ensuring our guests enjoy an exceptional dining experience.

This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys being part of a busy team environment, and is committed to maintaining excellent standards behind the scenes.

What You'll Do...
  • Ensure all kitchen areas are clean, organised and maintained to the highest standards.
  • Wash and store crockery, cutlery, glassware, kitchen utensils and cooking equipment efficiently throughout service.
  • Keep food preparation and storage areas clean and hygienic in accordance with food safety regulations.
  • Assist with the receipt, storage and organisation of deliveries and stock.
  • Safely dispose of waste and recycling, ensuring all areas remain tidy and compliant with hygiene standards.
  • Support the kitchen team with basic food preparation tasks when required.
