Job description

We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Kitchen Manager to join our team at our restaurant. The kitchen is yours as Kitchen Manager, you will be working closely with the Head Chef and Kitchen Servers to deliver a motivated and safe environment for all our team to work in. You’ll support the Head Chef and the General Manager by ensuring the kitchen is in top-tier condition. You will exhibit excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate kitchen staff. You will maintain great attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under pressure to meet high-volume production demands. You will have flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in a fast-paced restaurant environment. You will be timely, efficient, and professional with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively. Above all, you will have a genuine passion for food and ensure all food safety and sanitation guidelines are followed in the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, including maintaining a Level 2 or Level 3 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate.
  2. Conducting daily preparation work one hour before the shop opens, including frying fritters, fish, prawns, and plantain.
  3. Preparing coleslaw, potato salad, side salad, and fritter mixes a minimum of once a week.
  4. Packaging takeaway meals as required.
  5. Labelling food items accurately.
  6. Organising and maintaining fridges and freezers in order.
  7. Conducting daily temperature checks on fridges and freezers.
  8. Keeping detailed records of stock and inventory to ensure proper tracking.
  9. Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff to maintain high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and safety.

Requirements:

  1. The Employee must have a minimum of five (5) years of kitchen management experience.
  2. A valid Level 2 or 3 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate is required before commencing employment.
  3. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Strong attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
  5. Team player with a positive attitude.
  6. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  7. Leadership qualities.
