Job Type(s): Full-time or Part-time Duration: Permanent Schedule: Days (rotational shift basis that includes weekends) Shift(s): 08:00 - 17:00 Hourly Rate: £13.00

We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant who is dedicated to making every moment count, regardless of their qualifications or experience.

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will need to be adaptable and able to work efficiently in a dynamic environment where priorities can change quickly. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the team are essential. Your role will involve maintaining the kitchen and pantry, organising supplies, and ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly to meet the dietary needs of our residents, contributing to their health and wellbeing.

The Role:

  • Manage the “Cook Safe” system, adhering to policies for food probing, fridge and freezer temperatures, food delivery, storage, hot holding, serving, cleaning, labelling, and personal hygiene.
  • Assist cooks with food preparation such as sandwiches and salads.
  • Prepare vegetables.
  • Dispose of food and waste appropriately.
  • Adhere to Food Safety policies to prevent infection and cross-contamination.
  • Keep the kitchen clean and tidy according to schedules, including mopping floors following infection control and safety policies.
  • Report faults and defects in catering equipment and kitchen infrastructure to the Shift Leader/Manager.
  • Assist with cleaning of equipment and kitchen areas.
  • Manage food delivery, stock rotation, and storage to prevent old stock accumulation.
  • Attend mandatory training in Moving and Handling, Health and Safety, Elementary Food Hygiene, Infection Control, and First Aid.
