Job summary

Saputo is hiring two Kitchen Assistants for Hawes, Yorkshire Dales, to join Calvert’s Restaurant & 1897 Coffee Shop. Roles involve hands-on prep, cooking support, and high standards of cleanliness. Training is provided with potential to gain formal qualifications. Salaries: £26,111 (Full Time) and £20,888 (4 days/7).

Roles include working with locally sourced ingredients, serving customers, and maintaining HACCP and stock rotation. Onsite parking is available.

Responsibilities

• Preparing salads, vegetables, garnishes, and sandwiches to agreed specifications.
• Preparing snacks, starters & desserts throughout service to agreed specifications.
• Supporting the chefs with general preparation of dishes.
• Ensuring quality standards are maintained throughout service.
• Ensuring stock rotation and checking dates.
• Observing HACCP procedures and cleaning schedules.
• Washing crockery and supporting the kitchen team as required.

Saputo Dairy UK produces our local Wensleydale cheese, and other well-known brands include Cathedral City cheese, butters and spreads such as Clover, Country Life, Vitalite and Utterly Butterly and other dairy ingredients.

ABOUT THESE OPPORTUNITIES

We have two roles available currently for Kitchen Assistants on the following shift patterns:

• Position 1 Kitchen Assistant Full Time Permanent 5 days over 7, alternate weekends 8.30am start - 5.15pm finish during March to end of October and 4.15pm finish November to end February Salary £26,111
• Position 2 Kitchen Assistant 4 days Permanent 4 days over 7, alternate weekends 8.30am start - 5.15pm finish during March to end of October and 4.15pm finish November to end February Salary £20,888

You will be working in our award-winning visitor experience Calvert’s Restaurant & 1897 Coffee Shop in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. We attract a vast range of visitors all year round and are continuing to grow from strength to strength. We pride ourselves on using locally sourced fresh seasonal produce and our ethos is to provide outstanding quality food whilst showcasing our award-winning cheeses, which represent our amazing brand and exceed our customers’ expectations. This is very much a ‘hands on’ role working with our fabulous kitchen team, helping to produce great quality food, whilst ensuring the kitchen maintains extremely high standards of cleaning. Full training is available for the right candidate with the option to progress and gain formal qualifications if desired.

YOU’LL MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT MATTER BY…

• Preparing salads, vegetables, garnishes, and sandwiches to agreed specifications
• Preparing snacks, starters & desserts throughout service to agreed specifications and timescales
• Supporting the chefs with general preparation of dishes
• Ensuring quality standards are maintained throughout service
• Ensuring strict portion control is adhered to
• Monitoring and logging of information in relation to HACCP
• Complying with company procedures and legislative requirements
• Ensuring agreed stock levels are maintained throughout service
• Checking use / sell by dates and ensuring strict stock rotation
• Putting away deliveries ensuring strict stock rotation
• Observing correct cooking times, core temperatures and allergen procedures
• General cleaning of kitchen and equipment in conjunction with the cleaning schedule
• General washing of crockery to a high standard
• Supporting the kitchen team in other duties as required
