The Role

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will be an integral part of our catering team, helping to ensure that our service users receive nutritious and appetising meals. You will assist in the preparation of meals, maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, and support the overall operation of the catering service.

Typical tasks include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of meals, including basic food preparation and cooking under the supervision of the Head Chef.
  • Ensuring that all food is prepared and presented to a high standard, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Assisting with the serving of meals to service users, ensuring that dietary requirements are met.
  • Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste appropriately.
  • Helping to manage kitchen supplies, including receiving deliveries and storing food items correctly.
  • Following all hygiene and food safety standards, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Assisting with the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
  • Supporting the catering team with any other tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen.

We are looking for a part time member of staff to join our team, the kitchen operates from 7.30am until 7.00pm. We have a variety of shifts available for the right candidate.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Previous experience working in a kitchen or catering environment, preferably within a healthcare or care home setting.
  • A basic understanding of food hygiene and safety standards, with a commitment to maintaining high levels of cleanliness.
  • The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, with good time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • A compassionate and service user centred approach, with a commitment to supporting the well-being of our service users.
  • Flexibility to assist with various kitchen tasks as needed, demonstrating a proactive and helpful attitude.

All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check, the cost of which is covered by Rushcliffe Care.

Experience in the care or catering sector is not necessary, those with or without are all trained by our highly knowledgeable trainers.
