Job Opportunity: General Kitchen Assistant

Join our Catering team at Gatwick Immigration Removal Centre. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support catering services in compliance with all relevant regulations, legislation, and guidelines, assisting the Head Chefs and Chefs to ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure health and safety and food hygiene regulations are strictly followed.
  2. Maintain security and food safety during delivery, storage, and distribution; manage waste disposal and recycling.
  3. Prepare and cook varied, healthy menus, including special diets and religious events, under the guidance of the Head Chef.
  4. Perform quality checks on serveries before, during, and after mealtimes as needed.
  5. Assist with ordering foodstuffs and consumables, and undertake other reasonable tasks within capabilities.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in a high-pressure catering environment with tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of risk and conflict management.
Preferred Qualifications (Training provided):
  • Food Safety Level 2 or 3.
  • Knowledge of HACCP.
  • Awareness of allergen control in catering.
