Job summary

Bupa in St Albans is seeking a Kitchen Assistant on a bank (zero-hour) basis to support the in-house kitchen and deliver meals to residents.

You will work closely with chefs to plate meals, prepare food trolleys and keep areas clean, while ensuring meals meet high standards and residents feel at home. This role offers flexible shifts and rewards team-focused care.

Qualifications

• A passion for food with previous kitchen experience and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
• You aim to deliver excellent service at each meal and make residents feel at home.
• Maintain high standards in and around the home, ensuring residents enjoy a pleasant dining experience.
• Collaborate with the wider kitchen and care home teams and communicate effectively with residents.

Responsibilities

• Acting as the link between the main kitchen and our residents
• Assisting the chefs to plate meals, prepare food trolleys and keep preparation areas clean
• Monitor stock rotation and follow COSHH and HACCP guidelines
• Assist with catering for events such as summer BBQs and Christmas parties

Salary: £13.30 per hour

Bank - Zero hour contract

We are looking for an equally passionate Kitchen Assistant to join the team and help deliver an excellent dining experience for our residents.

Responsibilities

• Acting as the link between the main kitchen and our residents
• Assisting the chefs to plate meals, prepare food trolleys and ensure all preparation areas are kept clean and tidy
• Monitoring stock rotation, complying to company policies and procedures following all mandatory COSHH and HACPP guidelines
• Assisting with catering for special events such as summer BBQs and Christmas parties

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role

• A passion for food with previous experience working in a kitchen and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
• You want to deliver an excellent service at each meal and make our residents feel at home.
• You'll understand the importance of maintaining high standards in and around the home, ensuring our residents enjoy a pleasant dining experience.
• Working with the wider kitchen and care home teams - you're comfortable communicating with others, cherishing the little moments with our residents.
