Job summary

Bupa's Croft House Care Home in Great Dunmow is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join the team. You will support the chefs with food preparation, plate meals, and keep preparation areas clean and tidy, ensuring residents receive tasty, well-presented meals throughout the day.

The role focuses on delivering person-centred dining experiences and maintaining high hygiene standards, with training on COSHH and HACCP. This bank position offers varied shifts to cover busy periods.

Qualifications

• A passion for food with previous experience working in a kitchen and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
• You’ll understand the importance of maintaining high standards in and around the home, ensuring our residents enjoy a pleasant dining experience.
• Working with the wider kitchen and care home teams - you’re comfortable communicating with others, cherishing the little moments with our residents.

Responsibilities

• Acting as the link between the main kitchen and our residents
• Assisting the chefs to plate meals, prepare food trolleys and ensure all preparation areas are kept clean and tidy
• Monitoring stock rotation, complying to company policies and procedures following all mandatory COSHH and HACPP guidelines
• Assisting with catering for special events such as summer BBQs and Christmas parties

Contract: Bank

Salary: £12.75 – £13.75 per hour depending on experience

Croft House is an elegant and spacious home situated within a leafy suburb close to Stansted Airport. The home is set in stunning, well-maintained gardens and is also situated within walking distance of the main high street of Great Dunmow, which is ideal for residents to get out and about. At Croft House, staff take great care to focus on the person. It’s important for residents to feel at home, so staff create a friendly environment with an individually appropriate balance of care and independence. Enjoying food is an important part of life. The chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients and they try to cater for all ethnicity groups. Soon after a resident arrives at Croft House, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them. There’s a real sense of community at Croft House. The staff love to discover what residents enjoy doing and the social calendar is organised around those interests.
