Job summary

A local education authority is seeking a reliable and conscientious Kitchen Assistant to help with meal preparation and service at schools. Responsibilities include collecting meals, serving them, and ensuring the dining area is clean. The ideal candidate is a team player with a passion for supporting children. A Basic Food Hygiene certificate is advantageous, but training will be provided.

Qualifications

Overview

We are seeking to appoint reliable trustworthy and conscientious people, who will take pride in working within our school and have unconditional positive regard for our children and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Kitchen Assistant - You will collect the meals from Pocklington Junior School, prepare the dining room, serve the meals and clean the dining area and kitchen afterwards.
  • The job also requires some lifting, moving of furniture and equipment.
  • Travelling between schools to collect meals will be required on a daily basis, so you must be able to transport yourself between the two sites.
  • Business car insurance will be required.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Experience of working within a school environment and a Basic Food Hygiene certificate would be advantageous but training will be given.
  • Most importantly you will be team player, with an engaging sense of humour and a passion for doing a great job.
  • All staff must have an enhanced DBS check as Bishop Wilton C of E Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
  • In this role you are required to speak English with sufficient fluency to effectively perform your duties, as required by Section 42 of the Immigration Act 2016.
