The Hope & Anchor is seeking a Casual Kitchen Assistant / Kitchen Porter to join a hardworking, friendly kitchen team in Ross-on-Wye. It’s an entry point into a professional kitchen with a supportive group of classically trained chefs who care about food and developing people.

Ideal candidates are reliable, team-focused, and eager to learn, with full-time hours available and a commitment to hard work in a fast-paced setting. The role emphasizes training and progression within the group.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Cleaning the kitchen to prep for the next day.
• Maintaining storage areas, fridges and freezers.
• Receiving deliveries and organising stock.
• Washing dishes, cutlery, pots, pans and kitchen equipment.
• Loading and unloading the dishwasher.
• Removing kitchen waste and disposing of it safely.
• Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment.
• Assisting with basic food preparation.
• Supporting chefs during service.

Key Responsibilities

• Cleaning the kitchen to ensure it is ready for the next day
• Maintaining food storage areas, including fridges and freezers
• Receiving deliveries and organising stock correctly
• Washing dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment
• Loading and unloading the dishwasher
• Removing kitchen waste and disposing of it safely
• Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment such as cookers and food mixers
• Supporting chefs with basic food preparation (washing, peeling, chopping ingredients)
• Assisting the kitchen team as required during service
