Scope

Loveday & Co. offers care services in both traditional care homes and specialised rehabilitation facilities. The Sous Chef is second-in-command to the Head Chef in the Loveday kitchen. They are responsible for food production and assume the role of Head Chef in their absence. An important role in the kitchen, the Sous Chef ensures the smooth day-to-day running of food preparation and working practices. They are responsible for maintaining high standards to ensure members’ dining experiences are excellent. The Sous Chef also supports the personal development of the Chef de Partie.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the Head Chef, Sous Chef, Chef de Partie, and catering staff to manage and deliver all catering services, ensuring member choice, dignity, confidentiality, and safety.
  • Prepare nutritional food and beverages to a high standard, promptly and in accordance with mealtimes.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and food storage areas, following food hygiene regulations.
  • Prepare special diet meals as needed and directed by the Head Chef.
  • Provide feedback on complaints from members or staff regarding catering services.
  • Address complaints promptly and report them to the Head Chef.
  • Support stock control systems to minimise waste and ensure efficiency.
  • Participate in events held in the homes.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions and engage in professional supervision, including quarterly meetings and annual reviews.
  • Work flexibly within contracted hours to ensure resource efficiency.
  • Perform any other tasks reasonably assigned.
