Job summary

Jah-Jireh Charity Homes in Leyland are seeking a part-time kitchen assistant to support daily meal preparation and service. You will assist with cleaning, food handling, and liaising with care staff to ensure person-centered service.

Training will be provided; knowledge of food hygiene is desirable. The role requires teamwork and ability to work to schedules on weekdays and Sundays.

Qualifications

• Desirable: Approved Elementary Food Hygiene certificate.
• Helpful: experience in a similar environment, texture-modified diets knowledge, working with service users with additional support needs, health and safety awareness, teamwork and meeting deadlines, handling kitchen equipment and risks.

• Assist and execute various kitchen duties such as ensuring cleaning schedules are adhered to.
• Assist in the preparation and serving of all meals, in a timely manner.

• Help with serving all the meals, drinks, snacks.
• Set the tables.
• Help clear the tables.
• Wash up dishes from all meals and drinks services.
• Clean kitchen area and complete a main clean according to the cleaning schedule.
• Complete all relevant paperwork for the kitchen including food and fluid charts.

Working Hours: 19

Thursday: 0800-2200

Sunday: 0800-1300

Qualifications:

It is desirable but not essential for applicants to have an Approved Elementary Food Hygiene certificate. However full training and support on the duties, skills, and qualifications required for the role will be provided.

Experience:

It is desirable but not essential to have the following experience:

Previous experience of working in a similar environment

Knowledge of texture modified diets

Experience in working with service users who have additional support needs

Knowledge of health and safety and personal responsibility

Experience in working as part of a team and of delivering items to tight deadlines

Experience in working with kitchen equipment and appliances and understanding the risks involved
