Job summary

Bupa at Richmond Villages Letcombe Regis, Oxfordshire, is looking for a part-time Kitchen Assistant to support chefs and maintain hygiene and safety across catering areas. The role offers a balanced rota between 8am-8pm, with no late nights and paid breaks, in a village dedicated to high-quality care.

Salary is £12.90 per hour for 20 hours per week with excellent benefits. Prior catering or care experience and a valid food hygiene certificate are advantageous for delivering quality meals to

Qualifications

• Understanding of Health and Safety and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
• Up-to-date CIEH Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent) preferred.
• Experience in a care environment and stock management is beneficial.
• Organized and adaptable, able to work effectively in a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Preparing simple meals and ancillary items for service under the direction of the Chef.
• Washing dishes by hand or loading the dishwasher, store clean items neatly and safely to minimise breakages.
• Sweeping and mopping kitchen floors to keep them grease- and spill-free.
• Washing work tables, walls, equipment and appliances following cleaning schedules.
• Operating kitchen equipment and transferring between storage and work areas safely.
• Keeping the kitchen tidy and secure, removing rubbish, and storing supplies correctly.

As a Kitchen Assistant, your role is to assist our Chefs by maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and safety of all catering areas. The kitchen porter serves as the cornerstone of our village's culinary operations, ensuring the seamless functioning of the kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Preparing simple meals and ancillary items for service under the direction of the Chef
• Washing dishes by hand or loading the dishwasher, you'll store clean items neatly and safely to minimise breakages
• Sweeping and mopping kitchen floors to ensure they're free from grease or spillage at all times
• Washing work tables, walls, kitchen equipment and appliances, adhering to cleaning schedules
• Operating kitchen equipment and transferring this safely between storage and work areas
• Ensuring the kitchen is kept tidy and left secure, rubbish is removed, and all supplies are put away in the correct place
• Adhering to company Food Safety and Health and Safety policies at all times, maintaining all records outlined in the HACCP policy

Key Skills / Qualifications

• You possess an understanding of Health and Safety, as well as knowledge of maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment.
• Ideally possessing an up-to-date CIEH Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent) and prior experience in a catering department or kitchen is beneficial.
• Ideally, you should have some experience working in a care environment and managing stock, coupled with the ability to prepare simple meals.
• Being organized and adaptable, you are capable of working effectively within a team and independently.
