The Home

Located on the outskirts of the village of Eglinton, just ten miles from Derry, Longfield Care Home offers a welcoming environment with specialised care for residents across two units. We support 35 General Nursing residents in the Foyle and Faughan Units, along with 11 Residential Dementia residents in the Moore Suite.

The Role

The Kitchen Assistants in our Homes play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our kitchens, providing high-quality meals and dining experiences for our residents. This role supports the wellbeing of residents through person-centred dining experiences.

Reporting to the Chef, the Kitchen Assistant supports meal preparation, delivery, and ensuring dietary needs are met, while contributing to a safe and positive working environment.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all catering stock and equipment are stored and accounted for according to company standards.
  • Deliver meals and catering supplies efficiently within the unit.
  • Assist with basic food preparation under supervision.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, catering, and servery areas, complying with safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean environment throughout the home, adhering to operational and statutory standards.
  • Perform any other duties as reasonably required by the Chef or Cook.
