Job summary

Thomas Franks in Cambridge is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join our fast-paced team at a busy boarding school location. You will work 40 hours per week across a 7-day operation, helping to prepare fresh meals from scratch and support our chefs.

We value teamwork, attention to detail and a passion for great food, with opportunities for training and career progression within a leading independent contract caterer.

Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced kitchen as a Kitchen Assistant.
• Ability to work with fresh ingredients and follow brand standards.
• Willingness to handle food preparation tasks and assist chefs.

Responsibilities

• Work in a team to provide food and service.
• Prepare food from scratch using fresh ingredients.
• Adhere to food hygiene and safety policies and manage wastage.

Contract: Full Time , Permanent
Salary: 13.24
Hours: 40 per week

An established international boarding school for ages 14+ in the heart of Cambridge. Catering for 300 students and teachers daily. We offer a core feeding of Breakfast, lunch and Dinner. This is a 7 day operation so shift patterns would usually be 5 over 7. There are goo transport links to this location.

We are looking for a talented Kitchen Assistant to join our team at one of our fabulous locations in Cambridge.

You will have previous experience of working within a fast-paced kitchen as a Kitchen Assistant.

You will be excited to work with fresh seasonal ingredients & regularly changing bespoke menus. You will be creative and have the opportunity to showcase your skillset.

Key responsibilities:

• To work well in a team, providing food and a great service
• To produce food for service using fresh ingredients, cooking from scratch and following the companies brand standards
• Ensuring company food standards are adhered to and wastage controlled.
• Ensuring all Food Hygiene and Health & Safety policies and allergen control procedures are followed.
• Experience of pot wash duties would be an advantage
• Great team player
• Be able to help the Chefs with some food prep

You will have the following skills:

• A genuine interest in food & excellent customer service

• Innovation and passion for great food
• An organised Kitchen Assistant with attention to detail
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good understanding and use of verbal English.
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good standard of written English and reading skills.
• Similar experience of customer and / or food preparation environment is preferred
