Kitchen & Back of House Team Leader - QEII Centre
£32,000 per annum

We are QEII Taste, by Levy UK + Ireland, the QEII Centre’s award-winning caterers. We are renowned for creating and delivering exceptional guest dining experiences. Based on the core principles of quality, innovation, and service, QEII Taste aims to exceed client expectations. From graduation and awards ceremonies to international conventions, our menus are designed to enhance the event experience. Located in the heart of Westminster, we have hosted over 13,000 events since opening by Her Majesty the Queen on 24th June 1986.

Overall Purpose of the Role

The Kitchen & Back of House (BOH) Team Leader is responsible for overseeing kitchen and back-of-house operations to ensure efficiency, compliance with standards, and excellence in food preparation and safety. Responsibilities include supervising staff, maintaining inventory, ensuring cleanliness, and delivering high customer satisfaction through top-quality food and service.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervise, train, and mentor BOH staff, including kitchen porters.
  2. Take charge of the BOH team when the Manager is absent.
  3. Schedule and assign tasks to ensure smooth operations during shifts.
  4. Monitor staff performance and provide feedback or coaching.
  5. Enforce compliance with health and safety regulations, including food handling, storage, and cleanliness standards.
  6. Conduct regular inspections to meet sanitation and hygiene standards.
  7. Train staff on food safety and workplace safety procedures.
  8. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the BOH Manager.
  9. Minimize waste through proper storage and rotation of food items.
  10. Collaborate with front-of-house staff for seamless communication and service.
  11. Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues in the BOH.
  12. Work comfortably in hot, fast-paced kitchen environments.
  13. Report to the BOH Manager and Executive Head Chef.
Candidate Profile

Proven supervisory experience in a kitchen or back-of-house environment, with a strong understanding of kitchen operations and food safety regulations. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple priorities, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
