Job summary

Shropshire Council is seeking an experienced Supervising Social Worker to join the Kinship Fostering Service in Shrewsbury. You will supervise kinship foster carers, monitor placements, and ensure children’s voices are central to planning and decisions.

With a trauma‑informed, child‑centred approach, you will work across safeguarding teams and partner agencies to promote stable, safe homes and ongoing carer development. This role offers hybrid working options.

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
• Experience in fostering services, kinship care or children's social care.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and national standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and ongoing support to kinship foster carers.
• Visit fostering households to monitor progress and child wellbeing.
• Ensure children's views are heard in assessments and planning.
• Maintain compliance with fostering regulations and statutory guidance.
• Collaborate with social workers, education, CAMHS and partner agencies.
• Support carers with training and professional development.
