Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Kinship Supervising Social Worker in North Essex to support kinship foster carers. The role is permanent and full-time, with a salary of £38,487–£51,834 per year, and requires a registered social worker with relevant kinship/fostering experience.

You will lead training, provide trauma-informed, relational support, conduct home visits, chair meetings, and work across multi‑agency teams to safeguard children in care.

Qualifications

• Qualified social worker with current registration in Social Work England.
• Experience with kinship care and fostering services.
• Ability to co-lead training and assess carers.
• Strong report writing and understanding of National Minimum Standards for Fostering.

Responsibilities

• Provide regular home visits and at least one unannounced visit per year.
• Monitor care to ensure a safe, healthy and nurturing environment per standards.
• Complete annual household reviews within set timescales and follow panel processes.
• Support carers through complaints procedures and child protection procedures.
• Participate in matching and support care plans to achieve best outcomes.
• Ensure carers receive all documentation and keep confidential records secure.
• Maintain statutory support from the social worker and other professionals involved.
• Travel across the county; driving licence and mobility required.
