Kinship Assessment Social Worker (Fostering) #000A17501

Join our dedicated Kinship Assessment Team and help children stay safely within their extended families and communities. You will:

Complete Viability & Regulation 24 Assessments

Prepare Form K reports for court and panel decisions

Supervise newly-approved kinship carers until they transfer to the Supervision & Support Team

Work closely with fostering colleagues, placements, and courts to secure stable, nurturing homes

Your work directly supports the service’s mission to provide high-quality, family-based placements that help children thrive in their own communities.

Key Responsibilities

EmojiWhat you’ll doConduct swift Viability/Reg 24 assessments and give clear recommendationsProduce analytical, evidence-based Form K reports for fostering panel and courtVisit kinship households—virtual or face-to-face—to gather information and complete statutory checksDeliver guidance, resources and early training to kinship carers pre-approvalProvide short-term supervision and safeguarding oversight for approved kinship carers (avg. 7 households)Liaise with children’s social workers, IROs, health, education and legal teams to update care & permanence plansKeep meticulous records on the case-management system and contribute to service audits & panel feedback

What We’re Looking For

Qualified Social Worker with SWE registration (or equivalent)

Proven experience in fostering, kinship, permanence or court-related assessments

Strong knowledge of Viability/Reg 24 requirements, Care Planning Regs & Fostering Regulations

Excellent analytical report-writing skills for court and panel

Skilled at engaging carers from diverse backgrounds and providing culturally-sensitive advice

Ability to travel locally for home visits (car mileage reimbursed)
