Responsibilities

  • Repair the steelwork and main frame of the kiln cars.
  • Straighten kiln car decks and replace damaged blocks.
  • Maintain minimum levels of refractory blocks.
  • Repair/grease kiln car axles and wheels.
  • Strip and rebuild kiln car refractories.
  • Conduct running repairs to fleet (such as wheel lubrication).
  • Maintain accurate records and high standards of housekeeping.

Come and join us as a Kiln Car Maintenance Operative at our Ewhurst site based in Horsham!

About the Role

As a Kiln Car Maintenance Operative you will be working as part of the maintenance team, repairing and maintaining the equipment (kiln cars) which transport bricks in and out of our kilns and dryers. This role is a hands-on maintenance role, where you will become a specialist in your particular area.

We will provide you with full training and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to enable you to work safely and effectively. Duties include:

repairing the steelwork and main frame of the kiln cars
straighten kiln car decks and replacing damaged blocks
maintain minimum levels of refractory blocks
repair/grease kiln car axels and wheels
strip and rebuild kiln car refractories
record materials usage & maintain stock records
conduct running repairs to fleet (such as wheel lubrication)
maintain accurate records and high standards of housekeeping
Hours of Work: 7.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday

You’ll enjoy working in a busy environment where you can roll your sleeves up and get hands-on.
You’ll be flexible and able to adapt to the different daily priorities in the factory which help us run efficiently.
Safety is our biggest priority, so you’ll be committed to safe working and have good general safety awareness.
You’ll be fit enough to perform your duties, which are varied, and sometimes physically demanding.
You will also have:

Basic welding/fabrication experience
Good communication skills

Good computer literacy and numeracy skills
