This role is perfect for an experienced vet looking to lead the development of surgical services in-practice while playing a key role in mentoring junior colleagues.

About the Practice & Location:

Based in a vibrant area of the West Midlands, this well-established, approved training practice boasts an incredible client base and a highly varied, growing caseload (including small furries, exotics, and dentistry). The practice culture is heavily focused on inclusivity and team wellbeing, featuring regular morning catch-ups to share ideas, flexible consult times to suit individual styles, and guaranteed hour-long lunch breaks.

About the Role and Team:

This is a pivotal senior position designed to drive clinical standards and expand the practice’s surgical capabilities.

  • The Team: You will be supported by a highly experienced clinical team, including an owner who is a Vet GDP Advisor and a trained Mental Health First Aider. The team has a proven track record of internal progression and long‑term retention.
  • The Rota: Truly flexible working hours are on offer! The role can accommodate full‑time or part‑time hours, and the practice can even accommodate school hours.
  • Work‑Life Balance: This is predominantly a weekday position with a maximum of 1 in 4 Saturday mornings. There are no OOH duties, and appointments are scheduled to finish 30 minutes before closing to ensure everyone leaves on time.
About You (To be considered):
  • You must be a qualified Veterinary Surgeon with valid RCVS registration.
  • A strong interest or bias towards surgery is essential, with the desire to spearhead surgical growth in the practice.
  • A passion for mentorship and a willingness to support and guide junior team members and student nurses.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset.
Benefits:
  • Salary: Up to £65,000 (FTE, dependent on experience)
  • Work‑Life Balance: 5.6 weeks initial holiday (rising to 6.6 weeks after 2 years) plus an extra day off for your birthday!
  • Health & Wellbeing: Private health insurance, contributory pension scheme, and access to Colleague Assistance Programmes (Retail Trust, Port of Call, MHFA).
