Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant

Location: Sheffield

Start Date: September term of 2024

Contract: Full Time hours - term time only

GSL Education’s Sheffield branch is seeking a passionate and dedicated Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant to join our client school in the upcoming September 2024 term . The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support the educational and emotional development of young children. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to inspire and make a positive impact in a supportive educational environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in preparing and delivering lessons, ensuring they are engaging and age-appropriate for children aged 5-7 years old.
  • Help in the preparation of teaching resources and materials.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them to achieve their academic goals.
  • Create a supportive learning environment.
  • Support teacher in assessing student progress and maintaining records of achievement.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Support the school’s behavior management policies to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support subject teachers in maintaining classroom discipline and engagement.

The Essential Requirements for Successful Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience working with young children, preferably within an educational setting such as a primary school or nursery.
  • Familiarity with the Key Stage 1 curriculum, including phonics, early literacy, numeracy skills development, and basic science and humanities concepts.
  • Clear and confident communication with children, teachers, parents, and other staff members.
  • Patience and empathy when working with young children
  • Strong organizational skills to assist in preparing teaching materials, maintaining classroom resources, and managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and respond flexibly to the dynamic needs of the classroom environment.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
