Job description

Key Account Manager - Freight Forwarding (Heathrow Area)

Salary: £35,000 - £46,000 + Commission

Location: Heathrow

Working Hours: 09:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday (occasional out-of-hours work from home)

Experience Required: 10+ years in UK Freight Forwarding (No sponsorship available)

Are you a seasoned Freight Forwarder with deep expertise in airfreight imports and a passion for delivering high-quality customer service? Join our team as a Key Account Manager and play a vital role in managing time-critical shipments for a diverse portfolio of clients, including perishable goods and ship spares in transit.

Role Overview

You'll predominantly manage airfreight imports, but the role also involves handling road freight imports/exports and courier shipments. Our clients rely on fast, efficient, and accurate service, and you'll ensure their shipments arrive on time, every time.

Responsibilities

  1. Customs Clearance: Handle airfreight shipments using CDS (operating system: Sequoia).
  2. Documentation: Process road freight exports/imports, including raising T1 documents.
  3. Cargo Coordination: Work with handling agents at Heathrow (LHR) to release cargo.
  4. Logistics Management: Arrange collections from LHR and deliveries nationwide.
  5. Client Quoting: Provide clients with competitive and accurate quotes.
  6. Administration: Raise invoices and process supplier invoices for payment.
  7. Customer Service: Maintain our high standards of quality service.
  8. Troubleshooting: Resolve any issues that may arise with shipments.
  9. Attention to Detail: Ensure every step of the process is accurate and efficient.

Skills & Experience Required

  1. 10+ years' experience within the freight forwarding industry.
  2. Strong import customs experience, especially with airfreight.
  3. Familiarity with time-critical shipments (e.g., perishable goods, pharma, ship spares).
  4. Knowledge of all transport modes: air, road, sea, and courier.
  5. Experience with UK Freight Forwarding processes (essential).
  6. A thorough understanding of quality customer service.
  7. Import/Export customs experience, particularly in raising T1 documents.
