Job summary

Chester Zoo is seeking a Keeper for the Ectotherm Team to join a diverse collection of amphibians, reptiles and invertebrates. You will support welfare, hygiene and life support while delivering engaging experiences for visitors.

The role offers 40 hours per week on a fixed-term six-month contract, with 33 days annual leave pro rata, staff passes, healthcare and retail discounts. Applicants should have zoological qualifications and zoo experience.

Qualifications

• A HND or degree level qualification in a zoological related science or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience working in a Zoo or Aquarium with ectotherms (reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates).
• Strong observation, detail orientation and commitment to high standards of animal health and welfare.
• Understanding of ex situ populations for education, science and conservation.
• Excellent exhibit theming and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all aspects of animal welfare, hygiene and life support.
• Support public engagement, including animal experiences.
• Maintain exhibits to a high standard for animals and visitors.
• Provide outstanding customer care and visitor services.
