Job summary

Harrington Starr is seeking a seasoned KDB+ developer to join a world-class consultancy in the capital markets space. You will support project delivery with PMs and senior engineers, maintain high-quality code, and generate insightful time-series reports while mentoring junior developers.

The role emphasizes solving complex problems, collaborating across teams, and delivering on time and on budget with a focus on personal growth and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of KDB+ development experience.
• Good understanding of q language and time-series data structures.
• Strong logic and problem-solving abilities.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Comfortable working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Support project delivery with Project Managers and Senior Engineers.
• Maintain and test performant code for client applications.
• Generate actionable reports based on time-series data analysis.

In this role, you will be tasked with supporting project delivery alongside Project Managers and Senior Engineers, as well as being a key player in working as part of the wider team to deliver effective solutions on time and on budget. You will oversee maintaining and testing performant code for client applications as well as being expected to generate actionable reports based on time-series data analysis. Given your experience, you will also be expected to be collaborative with business users to define new application requirements and contribute internally to our growth culture by mentoring junior developers.

What you bring:

• Minimum 2 years KDB+ development experience
• Good understanding of q language and time-series data structures
• Capability in logic and problem-solving
• An understanding of methodologies associated with software development and SDLC
• Comfortable working as part of a team

Advantageous to have:

• Experience in Capital Markets or Investment Banking
• Experience with AI tooling (Claude, Co-Pilot)
• Knowledge of Python and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Exposure to project leadership/management
