A fantastic and exciting opportunity has arisen within Midlothian Justice Services for one full-time, permanent Social Worker. The Justice Service is co-located with statutory partners in the Substance Use Service, Psychological Therapy Service, Intensive Home Treatment Team, Community Mental Health and the Joint Mental Health Team. Third sector partners also co-located in Number 11 include MELD, Health in Mind and Change, Grow, Live. The post will be mainly office based with the opportunity to work at home on occasion with the agreement of your line manager.

The successful candidates will undertake the full range of Justice Social Work duties both statutory work and early intervention and prevention. There will also be opportunity to participate in group work service provision.

In addition to the essential criteria, only applicants who are able to evidence their understanding of crime, its causes and impact on society; principles for effective practice; principles of risk management and risk assessment, alongside awareness of National Outcomes and Standards for Criminal Justice Social Work Services will be invited for interview. The selection process will involve a second interview with service users.

Knowledge

A qualification in Social Work and registration with the SSSC as a Social Worker is essential. An understanding of crime, its causes and impact on society; principles for effective practice; principles of risk management and risk assessment alongside awareness of National Outcomes and Standards for Justice Social Work Services are essential.

Skills

A valid full driving licence is considered essential for this post.

Please note that it is Midlothian Council's policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale. Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £41,802.34 per annum.

Requirements

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children and/or protected adults.
Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children and Protected Adults.
