CoreTech Security, based in the UK, invites applications for a Junior Consultant starting September 2027. You will join the CoreTech Academy to rapidly upskill in bug hunting and reverse engineering under mentorship, with exposure to diverse projects across the security domain.
The role emphasizes curiosity, persistence and hands-on research on mobile OS and embedded devices, using Ghidra and languages like C/C++, Python or assembly. A passion for cybersecurity is essential.
CoreTech Security’s mission is to deliver high-end security research and bespoke solutions to some of the most interesting cyber security clients in the UK. In practice, this means that we have built a world-class team of vulnerability researchers, reverse engineers, and high-assurance software engineers.
CoreTech is looking for talented individuals with an active interest in low-level software vulnerability research and reverse engineering. In practice this means you will be familiar with native languages (e.g. C/C++), and ideally have some understanding of how computer programs are loaded and executed on Linux-based platforms.
Our primary focus is conducting offensive security research against mobile operating systems and other embedded devices such as routers and CCTV cameras. Our research team use Ghidra as our tool of choice for reverse engineering and produce proof of concepts in the most suitable language for the project which could be C, C++, Python or assembly code. The role requires an inquisitive mindset, persistence and enthusiasm for solving difficult research tasks. Knowledge of hardware would be beneficial to this role.
As a CoreTech Junior Consultant you will be enrolled on the CoreTech Academy where you’ll be provided with the opportunity to rapidly skill up in bug hunting and reverse engineering through a mix of training, mentoring and shadowing with our experienced team. The Academy also provides the opportunity to attend seminars/presentations on a whole range of subjects, presented by colleagues from across the business.
We are looking for candidates with a passion and enthusiasm for cyber security specifically in the field of Vulnerability Research. Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate an active interest and foundation knowledge in several of the skills listed above.
This is a Junior level role starting in September 2027 - you may be a recent graduate or someone that has some work experience and active interest in the area of Vulnerability Research.
Our graduate salary for September 2027 is £38,000. We appreciate that starting work in a new location can be expensive at a time when you are just starting out on your career. To help with this, we offer:
We will also perform 6 monthly pay reviews for your first two years and aim for our graduates to be promoted to consultant grade within two years of joining.
We are based in the centre of Cheltenham in a stunning new build contemporary office, 5 minutes walk from the local shops and cafes. Our website has a few pictures, which you can take a look at.
Please note, due to sensitivity of the role, successful applicants must be British Citizens and willing to undergo extensive background checks to obtain a security clearance.
Our interview process is quick and to the point: if you look like a good fit for the role, we'll schedule a brief call to discuss it in more detail and answer any questions you may have. If that goes well, we'll arrange a technical interview to understand your level of experience. We aim to get back to you with an answer within a couple of days of the technical interview. If you’re looking for a challenging role where you can make a real impact in the world, in a friendly environment and with all the support to advance your career.
