Capgemini Invent is seeking a Junior UX Designer to join the AI & Digital Factory community. You will work on user-centered design, translate user needs into interfaces, and prototype across public and private sector clients.

The role emphasizes accessibility, iterative delivery, and collaboration with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. The position offers hybrid working with potential travel to client locations, and opportunities to learn how AI can enhance design processes

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year experience in a User Experience Designer role or design-focused role.
  • Eager to learn and develop skills in parallel with client needs.
  • Eligible for SC (Security Check) Clearance.
  • Clear and effective communication of design decisions to team members and stakeholders.

ROLE TITLE: Junior UX Designer (SC Cleared / SC Eligible) - Associate Consultant – AI & Digital Factory


LOCATION: London, Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, and Bristol


We offer hybrid working, however depending on your project you may have to travel to client locations.

YOUR ROLE

As a Junior User Experience Designer, you will be joining the growing and exciting AI & Digital Factory community who are continually sharing knowledge and expertise. We are all passionate about user centred design, critical thinking, problem solving and designing and building digital services and products.


In This Role You Will

  • Use different techniques to understand users and their needs, translating user stories and proposing user-focused, evidence-based design approaches.
  • Design and prototype user interfaces ensuring alignment with user needs and business goals for our public and private sector clients.
  • Advocate for accessible and impactful services, ensuring solutions meet accessibility and inclusivity standards.
  • Work in a fast‑paced, evolving environment, using an iterative method and flexible approach to enable rapid Agile delivery.
  • Communicate across organisational and technical boundaries, understanding the context and making complex and technical information simple and accessible for non‑technical audiences.
  • Learn how we can use AI to enhance design processes.

Role

As part of your role, you will also contribute to the business and your own personal growth, through activities that form part of the following categories:


  • Business Development – Contributing to proposals, RFPs, bids, proposition development, client pitch contribution, client hosting at events.
  • Internal contribution – Campaign development, internal think‑tanks, whitepapers, practice development (operations, recruitment, team events & activities), offering development.
  • Learning & development – Training to support your career development and the skills demand within the company, certifications etc.

YOUR PROFILE

  • At least 1 year of experience in a User Experience Designer role or working in a design‑focused role in a professional setting.
  • A love of learning – you are eager to take opportunities to develop your skills in parallel with the needs of your clients.
  • A keen interest in the field of User‑Centred Design, keeping up to date with industry developments and conducting self‑led learning.
  • Eligible for SC (Security Check) Clearance.
  • An empathetic approach and ability to listen to the needs of technical and business stakeholders to interpret them clearly for both audiences.
  • Working knowledge of iterative design processes and UCD methodologies.
  • Competence in using design tools to prototype user interfaces at different levels of fidelity to test and validate designs.
  • Basic experience using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Basic familiarity with Government Digital Service (GDS) service standards and GDS design principles.
  • Clear and effective communication of design decisions to present concepts to team members and stakeholders.

Ideally, You Would Also Have

  • A design portfolio that showcases the design work you have produced.
  • Experience working within a User Centred Design team.
  • Ability to build prototypes using code to create dynamic prototypes using HTML, CSS and JavaScript at a basic level.
  • Experience with GOV.UK Prototyping Kit and Figma.
  • Knowledge of relevant accessibility standards and legislation, such as the Web Content Accessibility Regulations (WCAG).
