A leading practice in classical architecture and contextual urban design is seeking a Junior Urban Designer in London. The role involves assisting in various urban design projects, requiring a degree or master's and up to 3 years of experience. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, CAD proficiency, and a willingness to engage in site analysis and design implementation.

Penguin Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a leading practice specialising in classical and traditional architecture, and contextual urban design.
Located across two studios in Winchester and London, they deliver a wide range of award-winning projects including private houses, conservation-led restorations, commercial and public buildings, and the masterplanning of village extensions and major housing developments.
Key Requirements and Competencies:
* Degree or master's in urban design or architecture.
* 0-3 years of professional experience.
* An awareness of and willingness to assist in site analysis and the ability to maximise site potential.
* An awareness of and willingness to assist in site analysis and the ability to maximise site potential.
* An awareness of urban form and architectural character analysis and an ability to describe this.
* An awareness of and willingness to assist in sketch feasibility and detailed layouts for a variety of residential and regeneration projects.
* An awareness of and willingness to assist in implementation of design guidelines and codes to meet the demands of planning requirements.
* An awareness of and willingness to assist in production of planning development briefs and preparation of Design & Access Statements for planning purposes.
* An awareness of and willingness to assist in production of outline and detailed planning applications and submit same where required.
* Willingness to attend public/stakeholder exhibitions, workshops, and meetings as part of the masterplan development process.
* Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivated and well-organised
* Strong team player who can work in a multi-disciplinary team and is able to take responsibility for own actions.
What does the role involve?
* Working knowledge of CAD systems (ideally ArchiCAD; training will be provided)
* Awareness of masterplanning procedures.
* Familiarity with traditional and classical architecture is advantageous.
* Ability to assist with the preparation of sketches, working drawings, and presentation models.
* Ability to prepare cad drawings for both internal and external use.
* Willingness to refine and revise designs to meet the brief, respond to site context, and accommodate evolving client requirements.
* Willingness to attend site visits to assist with surveys and related meetings.
* Ability to help prepare or commission measured surveys and site reports.
* Ability to participate in internal and external meetings.
* Flexible travel around the UK
