Who are we?

Smiths (Gloucester) Ltd is a family-run business owned and operated by the Smith family since 1982. We have evolved from a single owner-operated plant hire company into a multifaceted group, maintaining our family values at the core of every project. With depots in Avonmouth, Cardiff, Gloucester, Stonehouse, and Tewkesbury, we primarily serve the South-West of England. Our areas of expertise include Construction, Waste Management, Plant Hire, Demolition, and Transport operations.

What we are looking for:

A motivated and diligent individual to assist with daily repairs and maintenance of machinery in the Plant Hire Workshop. This position is based in Eastington (GL10 3AQ).

The ideal candidate will have a passion for mechanics and a willingness to learn. We will provide appropriate training to ensure safe and correct execution of duties.

Hourly rate dependent on experience: £13.50 per hour.

We expect candidates to complete training and become fully qualified removal operatives within 12 months.

Working hours: 47.5 hours per week, from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities include:

• Washing, greasing, and general maintenance of vehicles and equipment as assigned by the Workshop Manager or Senior Technician
• Assisting the workshop team with daily tasks
• Working safely and efficiently within set timescales
• Attending relevant training and personal development sessions
• Following all Health and Safety protocols on site
• Performing tasks in accordance with company policies to high standards and best practices
• Wearing appropriate PPE at all times
