We are looking for an awesome Junior Sous Chef to join our Kitchen team at The Barnsdale. This role is based on a 4 day working week, allowing you to still have a generous work-life balance.

Our hotel overlooks the beautiful Rutland landscape with a picturesque courtyard, with a kitchen brigade providing fine dining using many ingredients sourced from the wealth of fine produce found in the locality. Encircled by idyllic surroundings on the north shore of Rutland Water, the hotel is a tranquil rural haven, close to the charming market towns of Oakham and Uppingham.

You will:

  • Lead our kitchen team, in absence of the Head Chef.
  • Ensure that all chefs are briefed ahead of service and are familiar with day to day expectations and requirements.
  • Ensure that the necessary stocks are on hand at the right quality and quantity.
  • Ensure that timetables, leave rosters and attendance registers are up-to-date.
  • Ensure that all statutory, as well as company, hygiene regulations are being strictly adhered to and maintain records and logs.
  • Monitor and maintain a strong understanding of health & safety compliance standards, so the team adhere to current legislation.
  • Maintain open communication with the front of house team, ensuring the whole F&B operation runs as smoothly as possible.
  • Ensure that each dish leaving the kitchen is checked for quality, quantity, presentation and correct temperature.
  • Engage with relevant training and development for your role for further advancement.
