Job summary

Legal & General is hiring a Junior Software Engineer - Index Analytics and Technology to support development on in-house fund management tools and data pipelines. You will collaborate with Fund Managers to analyse portfolio performance and automate processes, applying strong Python and SQL skills to improve reliability and efficiency.

You will work across internal teams, contribute to CI/CD deployments, and help maintain data pipelines while growing technical capabilities in a financial services

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Investment Management or finance is preferable.
• Knowledge of a variety of asset classes, with focus on index preferable.
• Ability to identify potential issues and resolve them creatively.
• Proactive in solving problems and keen to learn and develop technical skills.
• Proven knowledge of Python, pandas, and OOP.
• SQL is essential; PostgreSQL and Snowflake are heavily used.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and ensuring smooth deployments.
• Experience with Git, GitHub, and GitHub Copilot.
• Exposure to JavaScript and Flask/FastAPI is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Providing support on and carrying out development on various in-house fund management tools that assist Fund Managers and Senior Fund Managers in the management of funds
• Analysing and attributing portfolio performance
• Automating processes and proactively solving issues for internal stakeholders
• Supporting data pipelines for the wider use across the department
