Job description

Reporting directly into our Head of Engineering, you'll be working across our comprehensive workspace management platform. This is a full stack role where you'll contribute to our microservices architecture, frontend applications, and learn about our infrastructure. It's a fantastic opportunity to grow your skills across a modern, distributed system at scale.

We define ourselves as product engineers - this means we love building products, thinking about the user experience, and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions. As a junior product engineer, you'll develop the ability to understand how your code impacts users and learn to contribute to product discussions with growing technical insight.

Responsibilities

  • Feature development: Build features across our microservices architecture, working with Go-based backend services and React/Next.js frontend applications under guidance from senior engineers
  • Code contribution: Write clean, tested code following established patterns and contribute to our 40+ microservice ecosystem with proper code reviews and mentorship
  • Learning & growth: Actively learn our full technology stack - from GraphQL APIs and gRPC services to mobile apps, with support from the team
  • Code quality: Follow code quality standards, participate in code reviews, and learn best practices for writing maintainable software
  • Product collaboration: Work with product managers, designers, and engineers to understand requirements and deliver user-focused solutions
  • Bug fixing & maintenance: Identify and fix bugs, improve existing features, and help maintain system reliability
  • Documentation: Write clear documentation for your code and contribute to team knowledge sharing
  • Development practices: Learn our deployment pipeline, work with our custom Kitt CLI tools, and understand our development workflow

Our team highlights

  • Quarterly hackdays
  • Integrated personal development time (3 days a quarter)
  • Engineering show and tell over pizza and refreshments
  • Up-skilling budget
  • A culture focussed on developer experience and giving you a platform to thrive and grow both technically and personally (we are obsessed with DX)
  • Mob programming & pair programming
  • Dedicated mentorship from senior engineers

About you

  • Experience: 0-3 years of software engineering experience with some exposure to modern development practices. New graduates or career changers with demonstrable coding skills are welcome
  • Technical foundation: Basic proficiency in at least one programming language (bonus points for Go, TypeScript, or similar strongly-typed languages) with eagerness to learn distributed systems and cloud platforms
  • Learning mindset: You're excited to learn about large-scale systems and understand how different components work together to create great user experiences
  • Product curiosity: You're naturally curious about how products work and care about building things that users love. You want to understand the "why" behind what you're building
  • Growth orientation: You're eager to learn from feedback, ask questions, and continuously improve your technical and product skills
  • Team player: You work well with others, aren't afraid to ask for help, and enjoy collaborative problem-solving
  • Scale-up energy: Excited to work in a friendly scale-up environment with the mission to transform workspaces globally
  • Communication: You can clearly communicate technical concepts and are comfortable working in cross-functional teams
  • Quality mindset: You care about writing good code and want to learn best practices for testing and building maintainable systems

Why Kitt?

The world of work has shifted forever. As people everywhere prioritise purpose over their paychecks, company culture has been thrown into the spotlight. But the problem is, too many companies are showing up to work in bland, cookie-cutter offices. We're leading this change.

Real company culture can only be built in-person, in the real world - and for it to be authentic it needs its very own, personalised space. That's why we create offices as unique as the brands and the people who work there. We're long-term culture partners to our clients long after they've signed the lease and chosen the paint colours.

We're disrupting an industry that has long needed a shake up, and with our sights set on helping every brand find their dream home, the future of office space and culture is in very good hands.

We'll Kitt you out

  • Starting salary of between £37,000 - £50,000
  • 28 days holidays a year plus Bank Holidays
